  • Blue Crab
  • Bonefish
  • Goliath Grouper (Jewfish)
  • Lobster
  • Manta Ray
  • Nassau Grouper
  • Permit
  • Pompano
  • Red Drum
  • Sharks
  • Snook
  • Spotted Eagle Ray
  • Spotted Seatrout
  • Stone Crab
  • Sturgeon
  • Tarpon
  • Tripletail
  • Weakfish

Families of ornamental reef fish who are also prohibited include:

  • Angelfish
  • Butterflyfish
  • Cornetfish
  • Damselfish
  • Parrotfish
  • Pipefish
  • Porcupinefish
  • Puffers
  • Seahorse
  • Squirrelfish
  • Surgeonfish
  • Triggerfish (Except Gray and Ocean Trumpetfish and Trunkfish)

Penalties

  • Possession of spearfishing gear in a zone where spearfishing is prohibited is a second-degree misdemeanor punishable by up to 60 days in jail and/or a fine up to $500.
  • Spearfishing in a no-spearfishing zone is a second-degree misdemeanor punishable by up to 60 days in jail and/or a fine up to $500.
  • Unlawful spearfishing of certain species is usually a second-degree misdemeanor punishable by up to 60 days in jail and/or a fine up to $500.
