If you’ve become a victim of domestic violence, it's important to know what to do.
Get Away Immediately
If you can, immediately get away:
- Run to a neighbor’s house and call 911.
- Have the neighbor lock the door.
- If possible, have the neighbor drive you to a safe place where your abuser can’t find you. Make sure it’s not a place the abuser knows you frequent.
- Meet the police there to give your statement. If you’ve been seriously injured, seek medical help.
If you cannot immediately get away, wait until the situation calms down, then make your escape and call police.
